South Korean Ambassador Visits Anies' Office, Discusses Potential For Cooperation

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan received the arrival of the South Korean (South Korean) Ambassador to Indonesia, Park Tae-Sung at DKI Jakarta City Hall.

The meeting between Anies and Park Tae-Sung was held to discuss several potential cooperations, as well as to strengthen relations between South Korea and Indonesia, especially Seoul and Jakarta.

Potential collaborations include transportation, mobility electrification, provision of drinking water supply systems, and waste water management, as well as managing organic waste into fertilizer from markets under the auspices of Pasar Jaya.

"We hope that we can see the development menu in Jakarta which might be explored for joint work with South Korea," Anies said in his statement, Friday, March 4.

Anies said that there were many large, long-term projects regarding the improvement of public transportation, settlements, water management, and mobility electrification that could be carried out with South Korea.

"Regarding the MRT and LRT, we are very happy that the results of the study (from South Korea) will be out in the near future and for transportation electrification, we are encouraging our buses (TransJakarta) to transform into electric buses, and in collaboration with Pasar Jaya," said Anies.

In addition, Anies also hopes that this development cooperation will not only build hard infrastructure, but will also involve a process of transfer of experience and knowledge.

"We want that in the development process that we are working on, there will also be a transfer of experience, transfer of knowledge. So that our team in Indonesia in the long term will be able to follow the route from the South Korean side," he said.
