French Government Relaxes COVID-19 Restrictions, A Blessing For Novak Djokovic Who Has Not Been Vaccinated

JAKARTA - Good news arrives for Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic ahead of the French Open 2022. The French government has relaxed the COVID-19 restrictions.

Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that vaccine certificates were no longer required for people wishing to enter France from March 14, Reuters reports.

This means Djokovic will certainly be able to appear in the France Open which starts on May 22.

Previously, the 34-year-old tennis player could not appear at the Australian Open because he had not been vaccinated, in January. He was deported from Australia because of his vaccination status.

Previously, Djokovic said he was willing to skip the grand slam tournament instead of having to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

"That's the price I'm willing to pay", Djokovic said last month.

As the defending champion at the France Open, of course, Djokovic is very enthusiastic about being able to appear at Roland Garros. He is aiming for a 21st grand slam title to regain world number one status after being overthrown by Daniil Medvedev of Russia.
