The Number Of Electric Autopeds In Malioboro Jogja Will Be Limited
YOGYAKARTA - The number of electric scooters allowed to operate in Malioboro will be limited to a maximum of 200 units and the manager or business actor as the party that rents out must provide a hull number for each unit as part of supervision.
"The number is limited to 200 units. I have asked the office to limit the number of otopeds that are operated," said Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti, quoted by Antara, Thursday, March 3.
The hull numbering is intended so that the number of operating otopeds can be better monitored. "Of course, there should not be more than one hull number," he said.
In addition to restrictions, business actors who rent out motorbikes to tourists are also asked to impose various provisions on tenants, including the paths that can be passed and the maximum speed allowed.
Electric autopeds are allowed to be used on pedestrian paths. But Haryadi hopes that the tenants can also respect pedestrians so that they are not dangerous. "If the rental is in groups, it would be better if the road is not in one group so that it does not disturb pedestrians," he said.
Another rule that must be obeyed is that it should not be used on the highway because it will endanger yourself and other road users.
"Moreover, going against the flow. It's definitely prohibited and shouldn't be," he said.
He said that it was still possible to use otopeds along Jalan Malioboro during vehicle-free hours at 18.00-21.00 WIB.
Business actors as renters of motorbikes, said Haryadi, will be subject to sanctions if they still violate various rules and endanger or disturb other road users.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Yogyakarta City Transportation Service, Agus Arif, said that the rules for the use of electric scooters or scooters are contained in the Minister of Transportation Regulation Number 45 of 2020 concerning certain vehicles using electric motors.
"Our main reference is that. If later there is a policy from the leadership related to limiting the number and number of hulls, it is necessary to study what kind of technicality it is. It needs coordination across OPD," he said.
In addition, Agus also mentioned that the use of otopeds or electric scooters in Malioboro also needs to be studied whether the vehicle is a tourist attraction or not.
