SD In Makassar Closes After Dozens Of Students And Teachers Are Exposed To COVID-19
MAKASSAR - The Makassar Education Office temporarily closed the PAM Makassar Pilot Elementary School (SD) for sterilization after dozens of students were exposed to COVID-19.
Head of the Makassar Education Office, Muhyiddin Mustakim, said that the temporary closure of PAM Elementary School was for sterilization, while the teaching and learning process was back online.
"In the case of SD PAM Makassar, the closure is for 10 days, we will apply a 'lockdown' for schools and for others it is only for three days," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 23.
Muhyiddin said there were six school teachers who were exposed to COVID-19 and three others were elementary school students and dozens of others had mild symptoms, such as flu, cough, and fever.
The teaching and learning process from Monday (21/2) to Wednesday (23/2) in other schools, both elementary and junior high schools, is also online because it takes into account aspects of the high transmission of COVID-19 cases and bad weather, such as floods and strong winds.
"All elementary and junior high schools learn from three days, the consideration is because of the COVID-19 transmission rate that we are aware of and the bad weather factor," he said.
The former Head of the Makassar Social Service, stated that the six teachers who were exposed to COVID-19 were all only undergoing independent isolation at home because the symptoms they experienced were not too severe.
All teachers who were exposed to COVID-19 have also received vaccine injections so that the symptoms experienced are not too severe.
"I received a report that all the teachers who were exposed were only self-isolating. Generally, only flu symptoms and a dry throat. That's because they have all been vaccinated," he said.
