Basarnas Searches For Fishermen Lost In The Sea Waves In Halsel
TERNATE - The joint SAR team is searching for a fisherman named Rustam (42 years old) from Sabatang, South Halmahera Regency (Halsel), North Maluku, who was lost by the sea waves in the waters of South Halmahera.
"For the second day of the search, the joint SAR team conducted a search according to their respective search areas by dividing them into two," said Head of Operations and Alerts for the Ternate Basarnas, Bram Madya in Ternate, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 22.
He said the search operation was slightly hampered by unfriendly weather conditions. High waves and currents and strong winds make it difficult to see very limited.
Even though the weather is currently unfriendly, the search will continue while prioritizing the safety of the SAR team in the field and hoping that the victim will be found soon.
"The second day of the search, which started at 07.00 WIT, until the afternoon at 18.00 WIT, has yet to find any signs of the victim's whereabouts, so the SAR operation is temporarily closed and will continue on the third day, 23 February 2022," he said.
Meanwhile, in a separate place, the Directorate of Water and Air Police of the North Maluku Police again reminded fishermen, motorists and ship operators to be aware of bad weather in the waters of North Maluku.
The Director of Polairud Polda Malut, Kombes R Djarot Agung Riadi, said that with the current weather conditions, before issuing a permit, the ship looked at the weather and then always updated the weather.
"The feasibility of the ship is necessary, if the ship is not feasible, don't be forced to sail," he said.
Djarot added that his party must also pay attention to the safety of fishermen, motorists and ship operators, then colleagues from several agencies can see directly whether the ship is worthy or not sailing.
"They must also equip the equipment on board for safety such as navigation, buoys and so on," he said.
