Bogor Regent: Omicron Transmission Is More Massive Than Delta

BOGOR - Bogor Regent Ade Yasin admitted that the transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 was more massive in the region compared to the time of Delta's transmission last year.

"Indeed, in this third wave, the transmission is fast but not as violent as last year's Delta variant," she said in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, West Java, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 21.

Currently, the addition of positive COVID-19 cases in the area has always been above 1,000 people every day, since the end of January 2022. On the latest note, on Saturday, February 19, there were 1,314 new cases in the area.

Even so, Ade Yasin, who is also the Head of the Bogor Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force, assessed that during the third wave of COVID-19 transmission, the death rate was minimal compared to the second wave of transmission.

"Indeed, it is high (the transmission rate of Omicron, ed.), but it is sufficient to only self-isolate (isoman) in their respective homes," she said.

She said that most of those who tested positive had not followed the complete vaccination.

The reason, she said, even though someone has been vaccinated does not guarantee that she will not be exposed to the virus, but it can reduce the fatality rate if exposed.

"That's why we continue to encourage vaccination. Especially 'booster', yes. Because many have passed six months after the second dose of vaccine but have not been 'boostered'," she said.

So far, the realization of vaccination in Bogor Regency has covered 6,076,045 people, consisting of the first dose of 3,613,946 people and the second dose of 2,378,582 people.

"That's for all age levels, yes. The realization is already above 70 percent. The 'booster' is still minimal. Because it only started in early February," she said.
