Residents Complain About Piles Of Garbage In Kalimantan, Tangerang
TANGERANG - A number of residents complained about piles of garbage piled up on the outskirts of the Wates Kalimati stream in the Kampung Melayu Barat Village area, Teluknaga District, Tangerang Regency, Banten.
One of the residents in Kampung Melayu Barat Village, Karna (33) said that for several days the garbage had been piling up and had not been fully transported by the local cleaning staff.
"The condition of this pile of garbage has been around for a long time, the officers who used to transport garbage have not been around for several days. And even if this garbage comes, it will not be transported clean," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 19.
He said that a number of piles of garbage that were on the banks of the river and even covered the flow of the river, would be seen more and more if on Saturday and Sunday holidays.
In addition, the pile of garbage that causes environmental pollution, said Karna, makes residents uncomfortable and it is feared that it will pose a threat of flooding in the surrounding area.
"In addition to the threat of disease attacks on residents, this can also cause flooding later. Because garbage clogs the river flow, especially now it's still the rainy season. The potential is very big," he said.
Meanwhile, based on field observations, a number of piles of garbage did not only occur on the outskirts of the Wates Kalimati stream. However, it occurred at several points of the roadside in the vicinity.
This road is a route that is often traversed by motorists to the border area of Tangerang Regency and Tangerang City.
"Conditions like this in my opinion are certainly a question for many people, especially the position of this pile of garbage on the edge of roads and rivers. Maybe you could say where the government has left it like this," said one resident of Tangerang Regency, Eko.
