Firli Bahuri's Wife Creates KPK Hymn, Alexander: Granted Without Paying Copyright, Is Something Wrong?
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata revealed the reason for the launch of the marching song and the KPK hymn created by Ardina Safitri, wife of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.
"This is the KPK for almost 20 years, yes, 18 years, the KPK has not had marches or hymns as if other government agencies, I used to have BPKP marches and hymns. This is when there is induction or employee training, the instructor asks whether there is no This is the KPK hymn, it doesn't exist so far," said Alex at the KPK building, Jakarta, Thursday, February 17.
Alex said Ardina did have the ability to compose songs. Ardina's marching songs and hymns, he said, were not the first ones created by Ardina.
"Incidentally there is a woman, who happens to be the wife of the Chairperson of the KPK, Mr. Firli's wife, Mrs. Dina. She has the ability to compose songs and this is not the first or second song before she has composed songs," said Alex.
He said that Ardina's marching songs and KPK hymns could also inspire enthusiasm in eradicating corruption for all KPK personnel.
In addition, he said, Ardina also donated her songs free of charge to the KPK.
"She donated the marching song to the KPK and coincidentally it also has a good feel, its contents can really inspire us to love the KPK to continue to be passionate about eradicating corruption, right? If I have the ability, maybe I will make it or if my wife has the ability to make songs, I will suggest it," said Alex.
He also considered that there was no conflict of interest regarding the appointment of Firli's wife to compose the KPK marching song and hymn.
"Isn't it the COI (conflict of interest) sir? Where is the COI? Isn't it a good thing when there are citizens who want to be involved in eradicating corruption by making songs that can inspire KPK employees to eradicate corruption," said Alex.
Previously, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) handed over the copyright for marching songs and hymns to the KPK. The process is the ratification of the intellectual rights of the two songs to be determined as part of the institutional identity.
The handover was delivered by the Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H Laoly to the Chair of the KPK, Firli Bahuri, during the launching of the marching song and the KPK hymn in the Hall of the KPK's Juang Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, Thursday.
The marching song and the KPK hymn created by Firli's wife contain messages and meanings to invite KPK people to continue to serve the country in order to create a glorious Indonesia, an Indonesia free from corruption.
Through the marching song and the KPK hymn, Ardina conveyed her pride for contributing to the task of eradicating corruption.
"Pride for a citizen is to be able to serve and contribute, no matter how small, however simple, to participate in advancing and prospering the nation, one of which is through eradicating corruption," said Ardina.
