USC Java 9&10 PLTU Investment Empowers Community Economies And Ecology

JAKARTA - Investment in electricity throughout 2021 was included in the top five largest capital realizations based on the industrial sector (electricity, gas and water) with a value of IDR 81.6 trillion. This achievement is arguably inseparable from the interest of foreign investment which sees investment in Indonesia as still profitable, because it has bright prospects.

One of the electricity projects is the USC Jawa 9&10 Power Plant project in Cilegon, Banten which is owned and developed by PT Indo Raya Tenaga. In addition to having a positive impact on Indonesia's economic recovery, the realization of investment in this sector also strives for a commitment to protecting the ecology of the surrounding area.

The existence of the Java 9&10 USC Power Plant with a capacity of 2x1,000 MW with environmentally friendly SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology, the only one in Indonesia, aims to reduce emissions of several types of Greenhouse Gases by more than 50 percent and reduce CO2 by more than 20 percent, It is believed that in addition to having an economic impact, it also preserves the ecology. At the same time, by using green technology that saves coal, emissions will be maintained and the livelihoods of the surrounding community can be maintained.

President Director of PT Indo Raya Tenaga, Peter Wijaya emphasized the commitment of the construction contractors to involve local workers in the construction of the Java 9&10 power plant.

"We ensure that companies remain equal in providing employment opportunities. Also avoid employing children and discrimination in fulfilling workers' rights, as stipulated by the Ministry of Manpower regulations," said Peter in his written statement, Thursday 17 February.

For the use of environmentally friendly technology, this project is also appreciated by international and local institutions. The USC Jawa 9&10 power plant won several prestigious international awards from the Asia Power Award, ALB Thomson Reuters and IJ Global as the Power Plant with the best project funding in 2020 and 2021.

PT Indo Raya Tenaga also received an achievement as an Environmental Upgrade of the Year from Asia Power and an appreciation from LHK as a role model for an environmentally friendly generator because it is a USC generator that uses the most complete greenhouse gas reduction technology in Indonesia.

PLTU Java 9&10 is also one of the largest contributors to investment in Cilegon. Even though it is still in the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2021 Cilegon City's investment has succeeded in increasing significantly.

The investment increase was recognized by the Ministry of Investment or the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) of the Republic of Indonesia. Under the leadership of the Mayor of Cilegon Helldy Agustian, the City Government of Cilegon managed to record a positive record in the investment sector.

Even Cilegon City is included in the top 10 best investment increases in Indonesia. This is a proud achievement considering that there are 540 districts in this country.

According to Helldy, the award is a form of the government's commitment to building Cilegon City.

"Cilegon City is the only area in Banten Province that will achieve the highest investment in 2021," said Cilegon Mayor Helldy Agustian, Wednesday, February 16.

Acting (Plt) Head of the Office of Investment and One Stop Integrated Services (DPM-PTSP) Cilegon City Wilastri Rahayu explained, in 2021 the investment growth rate in Cilegon City reached 8.41 percent or more than Rp. 17.5 trillion.
