Indonesian Men's Team Wins Dramatic 3-2 Over South Korea In 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships
JAKARTA — The Indonesian men's team won a dramatic victory over South Korea in the second match of Group A of the 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships.
The Red and White Squad defeated Negeri Ginseng with a narrow score of 3-2 at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Malaysia, on Thursday, 17 February. This is the second victory for Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and his teammates after beating Hong Kong 4-1 in the first match.
Chico, who played in the first match, had to play for 66 minutes to give Indonesia the first point. The badminton player who is ranked 55th in the world successfully defeated Jeon Hyeok Jin in a fierce duel in three sets 21-18, 15-21, and 21-19.
Indonesia then lost two consecutive points after that. Men's doubles Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan, who played in the second party, surrendered to Jin Yong/Na Sung Seung in straight sets 10-21, 19-21.
Men's singles Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay also lost in straight sets. He played for 41 minutes and had to admit Kim Joo Wan's advantage with a score of 18-21, 14-21.
The pair Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Martin then equalized the score to 2-2 in the fourth match. The owner of the 2019 World Junior Championship gold medal won easily 21-13, 21-13 over the Noh Jin Seong / Yoon Dae Il pair.
Dramatic action then occurred in the decisive party. Christian Adinata, who played in the fifth match, immediately lost four points in a row and trailed 3-11 at the interval of the first set against Jeong Min Sun.
He also fell behind again after successfully equalizing the score 14-14, before slowly rising and winning the first set with a narrow score of 21-19.
Christian had to play the rubber game after he lost in the second set. It was recorded that he only gave tight resistance in the first eight points, after which he continued to fall behind and surrendered by a score of ten points.
In the final set, Christian performed much better and managed to lead 11-8 at the break. The advantage was successfully maintained until closing the match with a 21-17 victory.
Indonesia will face India in the final match on Friday, February 18 tomorrow. India itself just got a narrow 3-2 victory over Hong Kong in today's match after losing 5-0 in the first match to Korea.
