Indonesia Is Asked To Play A Role In Stopping Indian Muslim Racism
JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission X from the United Development Party (PPP) Illiza Sa'aduddin Djamal asked the Indonesian Government to communicate with the Government of India in an effort to stop acts of racism experienced by Muslims in the country.
She said the PPP supported the action of a student named Muskaan Khan who firmly defended her rights and education amid the racism treatment of Indian Muslims.
“For us, Muskaan Khan is the face of resistance who rejects acts of racism against her and other Muslims amid the ban on wearing the hijab, and we need to support this," said Illiza, quoted by Antara on Tuesday, February 15.
The chairman of the PPP DPP strongly condemned the act of racism. Therefore, she asked the Government of India to pay serious attention to the incident because it has become an international concern.
According to her, the issue of racism against Muslims in India is not the first, but has happened frequently.
"The act of discrimination against Muslims does not only occur in the world of education but also in various fields including work and health," she said.
