Fire Occurs Again In The Downtown Market Of Bukittinggi, 4 Merchants Flatten With Land
PADANG - Another fire disaster occurred at Pasar Bawah, Bukittinggi City. A total of four stalls belonging to traders were engulfed in flames.
The fire is known to have started to burn at the scene at around 07.00 WIB, Tuesday, February 15. In November 2021, right next to the location, there was a similar incident.
"We received information at 07.00 WIB and immediately rushed to the location, four shops caught fire, while about five others could be extinguished," said Bukittinggi City Firefighter Susilo, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 15.
The origin and cause of the fire are not yet known, which has made the activities of residents and traders in the Aur Tajungkang Tangah Sawah area centered on the location of the fire.
"The origin of the fire is not certain, but there are reports of a gas leak in one of the shops, the two shops that caught fire were a rice shop and the other two belonged to clothing traders. We estimate the loss to reach Rp. 200 million," said Susilo.
The fire was extinguished by the Bukittinggi City Fire Department, assisted by the Agam and Padang Panjang Firefighters, about an hour after the incident.
The fire accident at Pasar Bawah is the fourth time in the past year.
The first fire occurred in the Los Maco area in September 2021, the second fire in Aur Tajungkang or the location of traders selling used clothes in November 2021 and Pasar Bawah where traders sell spices a week later.
