Still Calling Witnesses, KPK Extends Langkat Regent's Detention Period
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has extended the detention period of the inactive Langkat Regent.
The detention extension was carried out because the examination of witnesses in the alleged bribery case for infrastructure in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra is still being carried out.
"The investigative team extended the further detention of the suspect TRP et al for 40 days each starting from February 8 to March 19," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Thursday, February 10.
Ali explained that Terbit was detained with Shuhandra Citra at the KPK Detention Center at the Jaya Guntur Pomdam. Meanwhile, the suspect, Marcos Surya Abdi, is being held at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Rutan, Isfi Syahfitra is being held at the East Jakarta Police Detention Center, and Muara Warin Angin is being held at the KPK Rutan in the Merah Putih building.
In addition to the five suspects, the KPK also extended the detention period of Terbit's brother, Iskandar Warin Angin, for 40 days. He is currently being held at the Pomdam Jaya Guntur KPK Detention Center.
"(Extension of detention period, ed) starts from February 9 to March 20," said Ali.
After extending the extension, the anti-corruption commission will focus on investigating the alleged receipt of bribes by Terbit. Investigators will later schedule the examination of a number of witnesses.
"The filing of the cases of the suspects is still ongoing by scheduling the summons and examination of a number of witnesses by the Investigating Team," he said.
As previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Langkat Regent Publishing a Plan for Warring Angin as a suspect in bribery related to infrastructure projects. This determination was made after the KPK held the OTT on Tuesday, January 18.
He was named along with four other suspects, namely the Village Head of Balai Kasih who is the brother of Terbit Plan, Iskandar PA; and three private persons or contractors, namely Marcos Surya Abdi, Shuhandra Citra, and Isfi Syahfitra. Then as a bribe giver is Muara Warin Angin which is a private party or contractor.
In this case, the KPK suspects that Terbit managed the implementation of the infrastructure work project package in Langkat Regency.
In addition, he also ordered his subordinates to actively coordinate with his brother, Iskandar, who was his representative to select the contractors who won the work packages at the PUPR Service and the Education Office.
