Modern Retail Stores Closed For 14 Days Because One Employee Exposed To COVID-19 Suspected Of Infecting From Visitors

MALANG - Modern retail store located on Semeru Street, Malang City, East Java, was temporarily closed for 14 days because one of the employees at the store tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing an antigen swab test.

Malang Mayor, Sutiaji, said the tracking carried out on 30 employees at a modern retail store was due to a visitor who claimed to be confirmed positive for COVID-19, but kept shopping.

"We did testing, and it turned out that there was one person who was exposed to COVID-19. One (positive) out of 30 people who were tested. So, we took action, this place was temporarily closed", he said, quoted by Antara on Monday, February.

For information, previously circulating information on social media of a visitor who claimed to be confirmed positive for COVID-19 and continued to shop at one of the modern retail stores in Malang City.

In an upload to Reza Fahd Adrian's Facebook account on January 27, 2022, he wrote that he had canceled his vacation to Bali, due to exposure to COVID-19. After being declared exposed to COVID-19, the person chose to take a vacation and tour the cities of Malang and Batu.

In fact, in the account, he also explained several symptoms felt due to exposure to the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus. He also admitted that he had previously been exposed to the Delta variant of the Coronavirus.

Sutiaji explained with this condition, the Malang City Government was tracking the potential spread of the Coronavirus in one of the modern retail stores. Tracking needs to be done because it minimizes the risk of spreading COVID-19.

"This is done because there is a vulnerable area (a lot to interact with many people)", he said.

The Mayor of Malang added that Malang City people who had come and shopped at the store and experienced several symptoms should be able to do a COVID-19 test at the nearest Puskesmas or Malang City Regional Health Laboratory.

According to him, this step is important so that there is no spread of the Coronavirus, especially in the family environment. People who have shopped at the store are asked to immediately report to the Puskesmas so that the officers can do the tracking.

"I beg to localize all of this. Those who feel that they have been here, and then there is a slight disturbance, immediately report to us. Later the Puskesmas will visit or vice versa, for an antigen swab test", he said.

In the Malang City area, COVID-19 cases have continued to increase in recent times. It was recorded that until February 6, 2022, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the Malang City area reached 813 cases.

Based on data from the East Java Provincial Government, in the Malang City area, there were 16,972 positive confirmed cases of COVID-19. Of the total confirmed cases, 15,024 people were reported to have recovered, 1,135 people were declared dead.
