ISSF Grand Prix Rifle/Pistol Followed By 80 Athletes From 6 Countries
JAKARTA – The ISSF Grand Prix Rifle/Pistol international shooting championship will be participated by six countries. Approximately 80 athletes will enliven the competition.
Besides Indonesia as the host, Romania, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Bangladesh will also participate in this event. If the jury is included then as many as 12 countries will attend.
"So far the number of participants is around 80 athletes. If it is calculated by the jury, this activity involves 12 countries," said Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Shooting and Hunting Association (PB Perbakin) Siswanto as quoted by Antara.
So far, Indonesia's preparation for the championship is 90 percent. A coordination meeting to finalize preparations for the opening ceremony has also been held by Perbakin.
This championship will take place at the Senayan Shooting Ground, Jakarta, on February 8-18. In practice, this event will implement a bubble system due to the COVID-19 situation.
As part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Perbakin also coordinates with participating countries. The results of the coordination, the contestant countries stated their readiness to undergo quarantine and tests in their respective countries first before leaving for Indonesia.
Indonesia for the first time hosted a shooting championship which was included in the calendar of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF).
This championship will be a trial for Indonesian athletes to appear at the Hanoi SEA Games in May. This is important because Malaysia and Thailand will field the first-tier athletes in Southeast Asia's multi-sports event.
