Police Shoot Motorbike Thief In Boarding House In Medan

MEDAN - Police officers shot a suspect in the theft of a motorbike who often acts in a boarding house area within the jurisdiction of the Medan Police, North Sumatra Police, for resisting arrest.

"The identity of the suspect has the initials RH (37)," said the Head of Criminal Investigation at the Medan City Police, Commissioner M Firdaus, Sunday, January 30.

Firdaus said that in disclosing the theft case, officers also arrested a middleman with the initials PMS (42).

The arrests of the two suspects began with a report by a victim named Geby (20) who lost a motorbike in Medan Petisah District on Monday, November 15.

At that time the victim put his motorbike in the yard of his friend's boarding house. When he was about to go home, the victim saw that his motorbike had disappeared.

Based on the report, officers conducted an investigation and succeeded in arresting the suspect RH at his residence in the Pelita IV Street area, Medan on Saturday (29/1).

While searching for evidence, the suspect tried to escape by injuring the officer so that he had to be paralyzed by being shot in the leg.

"Currently we are still pursuing one other suspect who is none other than the wife of the suspect involved in this theft," he said.

Officers resumed their development and succeeded in arresting PMS perpetrators in the Gajah Mada area, Medan.

"They are subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code regarding theft with a penalty of up to five years in prison," said Firdaus.
