Youth In Pinrang Found Dead Drowning In Bungi Village River
PINRANG - The joint SAR team managed to evacuate the body of a young man named Abdullah (18) after being declared missing for one day. The victim was found by a search team in Sungai Bungi Village, Duampanua District, Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi.
"On the second day of the search for the victim, a joint SAR team was found who did a dive in a river about 30 meters from the drowned location, dead," said Head of the South Sulawesi Basarnas, Djunaidi, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 30.
Based on incoming reports, he said, the victim reportedly drowned while trying to swim across the river carrying an optical cable in a local village.
This young man is also known to come from Makassar City, and works as a freelancer in a private company. The victim tried to pull the cable by crossing the river.
But unlucky, in the midst of the high water of the local river, the victim was declared drowned on Saturday, January 29 morning.
The local people who saw the incident immediately conducted a search, but with no results, then reported it to Basarnas.
After receiving the report, the Basarnas Team mobilized its personnel at the Parepare SAR Alert Unit Post to help carry out the search since Saturday, January 29, 2022.
On the second day of the search, the victim was finally found and then evacuated. The nearest health center to be handed over to the family who picked them up.
For this incident, his party appealed to the public to always prioritize safety and security when working, especially those who are active in places that have risks such as rivers.
