JAKARTA - Apple founder Steve Wozniak has reportedly just launched a space company called Privateer. But it doesn't sound like billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
In a Twitter post, Wozniak announced that, "a private space company is getting started, like no other." The tweet also includes a link to a video on the YouTube platform.
“The sky is no longer the limit,” reads the message on the video.
It is known from a Gizmodo report, Tuesday, September 14, that the startup was co-founded by former Apple engineer, Alex Fielding. However, there is no further information on how or what purpose Wozniak created the space company.

"We are explorers. We are dreamers, risk takers, engineers and stargazers. We are human, and it is up to us to work together to do what is right and what is good. So here to keep what we have, so that the next generation can be better together," the video says.
Despite its name, historically, a privateer was an armed ship sent and paid for by the state to attack enemy ships. But the video shows that Privateer will cooperate more.
"This is not a race. This is not a competition. Or a game. We are not one person, one company, one nation. We are one planet," says a voice in Privateer's video.
There is still the possibility that the company will work on military technology to protect assets in space. It was unusual for Wozniak to fund a military space company.
"Privateer Space works to keep space safe and accessible to all of humanity," the video's description reads.
The entrepreneur has long supported open software and environmental initiatives. Last year, for example, he launched Efforce, a multibillion-dollar marketplace for funding green projects. For more information on Privateer, it will follow at the 2021 AMOS Tech Conference in Maui, Hawaii which is scheduled for September 14th.
