JAKARTA - Anthropic announced Project Glasswing, a program developed to help technology companies find and fix security holes in their operating systems (OS). One of the companies selected for the program is Apple.
Through this initiative, Apple will use a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) model called Mythos Preview to strengthen its device defenses. The Mythos Preview AI model is claimed to have successfully detected thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities on various major operating systems.
The coding ability of this model is said to be able to surpass the ability of humans in identifying complex software exploits. Anthropic, launching from MacRumors, stated that this step is an effort to utilize AI for defense purposes.
Mythos Preview will not be launched for the general public to keep data secure. Its use is exclusively restricted to selected partners such as Apple, Microsoft, Google, and several other technology giants.
For Apple, this cooperation is the right step to maintain the integrity of Safari and their OS ecosystem. This model will help detect vulnerabilities in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, to the latest operating system such as visionOS.
