JAKARTA - Billionaire Elon Musk announced that his artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI, plans to expand its data center in Memphis, and has purchased a third building in the area.
In a statement on a post on X, Musk said the area would increase the company's artificial intelligence computing capacity to nearly 2 gigawatt.
"xAI has bought a third building called MACROHARDRR. It will increase the training computing power @xAI to almost 2 GW," Musk wrote on Wednesday, December 31.
Musk has built one data center in Memphis, called Colossus, and is currently building a second location nearby called Colossus 2.
The new data center building of the company in question by Musk will be located in Southaven, Mississippi, and will be adjacent to the Colossus 2 facility.
Previously, Musk had publicly discussed plans to build the world's largest data center for AI training, and earlier this year, he announced that Colossus 2 would eventually have 550,000 chips from Nvidia Corp.
Not long ago, Elon Musk met with the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss AI, advanced technology, and international cooperation in emerging sectors.
The two discussed the latest developments in AI and next-generation technologies, and how these tools can be used to improve the quality of life, accelerate global innovation, and support long-term economic development.
Both parties stressed the importance of international partnerships and knowledge exchange to accelerate the adoption of technology and strengthen the ability of countries to respond to future challenges.
