JAKARTA - Google is reportedly working to simplify the way users access the history created in AI Mode in the Google app. This change aims to speed up users in reviewing conversations and answers generated by the Gemini model, especially for those who often use the AI Mode feature to get targeted and useful answers.
Currently, in the Google app on Android, users have to tap the prominent "AI Mode" button first, then tap the history icon that appears in the upper right corner to see their activity notes. However, based on findings in the code teardown (APK teardown) on the 16.50.55.sa.arm64 version of the app, Google is preparing a slightly faster way.
The shortcut in question is to replace the Google Labs icon - which is currently in the upper left corner of the home screen - with a direct shortcut to the AI Mode History.
Google Labs is known as a place where users get early access to experimental features. However, given that Labs are not updated every day, Google seems to see an opportunity to use that valuable space for a feature that is more frequently accessed: AI Mode History. In the development version that was successfully seen, this new shortcut not only provides quick access, but also helps divide the history list by date.
Although sometimes the interface changes that Google developers work on are not always launched, this change has a great chance of being realized. This is because the same adjustment - replacing Labs with the AI Mode History shortcut - has already been applied to Google apps for iOS users.
Currently, Labs still occupies that position on Android, but observers expect Google will soon enable this change, giving Android users much faster access to track and repurpose their interactions with AI Mode.
