JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital in collaboration with all national cellular operators continues to accelerate the recovery of disrupted telecommunications services after the flood disaster in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

As of December 5, Deputy Minister of Komdigi Nezar Patria said that out of a total of 3,414 BTS in Aceh Province, 1,789 BTS or 52.4 percent had returned to service.

In addition, from these three areas, Aceh became an area with a significant level of telecommunications service disruption, along with the impact of flooding which caused power supply cuts, road access damage, and disruption of network infrastructure.

However, Nezar explained that along with the recovery in electricity supply, the percentage of active BTS could be increased to around 75 percent, and this week the network is expected to recover near normal conditions.

Hopefully this week can recover as usual. Because the obstacles we found were still as in previous days, namely in the form of electrical energy," said Nezar in his official broadcast on Friday, December 5.

He also emphasized that Komdigi together with operators continue to carry out intensive coordination and regular field monitoring to ensure that the network recovery process takes place quickly, measurably, and gets full attention from the government.

"Reports of daily development, even hours per hour how the telecommunications repair is reported," he explained.

In supporting recovery in areas that are still experiencing telecommunications isolation, Komdigi has also distributed emergency satellite-based communication solutions through Starlink devices equipped with generators as temporary energy sources.

He emphasized that all these emergency communication services are provided free of charge, non-commercial, and are fully intended for humanitarian purposes.

Currently, Komdigi also continues to coordinate with PLN and related agencies so that the repair of connection lines and BTS devices can run in parallel with the recovery of electricity supply.
