Visa announced the expansion of the Visa Intelligent Commerce in the Asia Pacific region, to accelerate the transition to the Asia Pacific region towards a new era of AI agent-based trade.

This expansion reinforces Visa's strategy in the agency commerce by introducing new security protocols and test programs that are ready to be developed from previous partnerships and initiatives.

The Intelligent Commerce Visa is a complete series of integrated APIs and partner programs that leverage Visa's secure infrastructure, which allows secure, transparent, and approval-based payments by AI agents on behalf of consumers.

With features like tokenization, authentication, payment instructions, and transaction signals, AI agents can operate transparently and safely, so they can give full confidence to consumers in interacting with AI-based trading systems.

In the near future, AI agents integrated on a platform that are already known to be able to transact using 4.8 billion Visa credentials across the world.

This means that consumers simply give instructions to their AI agents to book travel tickets or cinemas, and all transactions will be carried out safely.

"With Visa Intelligent Commerce and its main pillars, Trusted Agent Protocol, Visa connects consumers, AI agents, and traders through safe and scalable solutions," said TR Ramachandran, Head of Product and Solutions, Asia Pacific, Visa.

In the future, Visa plans to launch an Intelligent Commerce Visa trial in various Asian Pacific countries in line with regulatory and ecosystem readiness, which is targeted to start in early 2026.
