JAKARTA - Recently, China implemented a law requiring influencers or online content creators to have proof of expertise in the form of certification or titles, to discuss sensitive issues on digital platforms.

Responding to China's new regulation, the Head of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Bonifasius Pudjianto, stated that his party was still studying the regulation.

"Because this information is still new, we are still reviewing it first. And this is interesting, yes, we have WA (WhatsApp), we are still discussing how this issue is, there is a country that has issued a new policy, so we are still reviewing it," said Boni at the Ngopi Bareng Komdigi event on Friday, October 31.

Before confirming the opportunity for the same rule, Boni emphasized the need for a more in-depth study and feedback from various parties related to these rules.

He gave an example of Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 concerning Child Protection in the Digital Realm (PP Tunas), which was adopted and modified from regulations in Australia regarding restrictions on the use of social media for children under 16 years of age.

"PP Tunas is for the protection of children in the digital space, actually we are also learning. In neighboring countries, in Australia there is a thought that children under that age should not use social media. Same with us learning, how is the world trend to protect the digital ecosystem," he explained.

Although it has not been decided and is still being studied, Boni emphasized that a person's competence in discussing an issue is indeed needed to avoid disinformation or the spread of misleading content.

Boni asked for input from all stakeholders, including the public, whether such rules are needed in Indonesia or not.

"The input from friends is actually the most important thing. We have to listen, if necessary, okay. But how? Like what? Then there must be a leveling grade. What if we manage, target anyone? Because now there are a lot of content creators," he concluded.
