JAKARTA Apple is rumored to be launching a MacBook at a cheaper price, even much cheaper than MacBook Air. This news comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, a leading Apple analyst.

This laptop is expected to use the A18 Pro processor. This is a processor also used by the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple deliberately uses their phone processor to reduce production costs.

Reportedly, this cheap device will have a 13-inch display, similar to the MacBook Air. However, to make it more affordable, Apple is believed to remove several features, one of which is RAM.

RAM capacity is very valuable for laptop users. If the MacBook Air comes with 16GB capacity, the latest MacBook at a very cheap price will only be equipped with 8GB RAM.

In addition, there are several other premium features that will also be reduced or removed. Features such as the number of USB-C ports, Touch ID sensors, and Center Stage cameras may not be available on this model.

This reduction is a strategy that Apple usually uses to differentiate its products at various price levels. If you want to get better performance or capacity, you have to buy a standard or more expensive model.

In terms of design, it is reported that this MacBook will come in four bright color choices. This color choice is the same as the one available on the iPad entry-level, namely blue, yellow, pink, and silver.

Mass production for this MacBook is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year or early 2026. This device is expected to be sold at a price of 699 US dollars or around Rp. 11.3 million.
