JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital together with the UK officially launched the AI Policy Dialogue Country Report, which will be the foundation in the preparation of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap.

The Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade, Nezar Patria, hopes that this document can open up the understanding of policymakers regarding the Al landscape in Indonesia, so that they can determine the direction of Al's policies in the future.

Nezar stated that the preparation of this report was carried out systematically, through various discussions with stakeholders who had utilized AI technology, including industry players, governments, universities, experts, and the civil community.

"As a follow-up, the Ministry of Komdigi is committed to using the results of this dialogue as a basis for concrete and progressive Al policy recommendations that are in line with national interests," Nezar said at the AI Policy Dialogue Country Report launch event on Monday, July 28.

This report complements the assessment of AI readiness (RAM AI) that has been carried out with UNESCO in 2024, by identifying the main challenges ranging from governance, infrastructure, digital talent, to research and development (R&D).

AI Policy Dialogue also dissects important issues faced in AI adoption in key sectors, including e-commerce, banking and finance, creative economy, health, education, and sustainability.

The British Government representative, Samuel Hayes, added that this report was the fruit of a digital cooperation signed in early 2025 between the Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade Nezar Patria and the British Minister for the Indo-Pacific Catherine West.

"This is the real result of our digital agreement. This dialogue lasts during seven intensive sessions and involves more than 100 AI ecosystem players in Indonesia," Hayes said.
