Social media forecast Meta Platforms Inc continues to strengthen its commitment to net energy use by signing four new deals with renewable energy developer Invenergy LLC to supply additional 791 megawatts (MW) of electricity from solar and wind power to support the operation of their data center.

The move is part of Meta's strategy to meet the surge in data center electricity needs used for artificial intelligence (AI) technology, while relying on environmentally friendly energy sources.

Invenergy, Chicago-based, said that this latest deal brought the total partnership between the two companies to 1,800 MW. Earlier last year, Meta had also signed four contracts with Invenergy for the procurement of 760 MW of solar energy.

Neither Meta nor Invenergy disclosed the details of the financial value of this latest agreement.

In addition to cooperation with Invenergy, Meta has also established partnerships with a number of large solar energy projects, startups in the geothermal field, and is even opening up opportunities for cooperation with nuclear energy developers as part of efforts to diversify its clean energy sources.

With the increasing demand for energy for AI data and technology centers, Meta is trying to ensure that growth remains in line with the company's environmental commitments and carbon-neutral targets.
