JAKARTA - Apple Watch future generations, Apple Watch Series 13, is rumored to be the first device from Apple to embed a blood sugar monitoring feature (blood sugar monitoring). This rumor resurfaced after years of Apple's reportedly developing the technology secretly.

Since the Apple Watch Series 7 era in 2021, a number of reports say Apple is testing a blood sugar level measurement system. However, until now no product with this feature has actually been launched. In 2024, Apple reportedly ran a trial of blood sugar monitoring applications, but only limited to data collection for health studies, not for the public.

Now, tech analyst Jeff Pu says that the blood sugar monitoring feature will be the main advantage of the Apple Watch Series 13 released in 2027. He even stated that Apple is likely to give the device a special name, such as "Apple Watch Featuring Blood Monitoring". However, Pu did not provide more technical details or information sources.

Although Jeff Pu is known to have conveyed accurate information, he also has a track record of predictions for the launch of Apple products that often miss. It is unclear whether his prediction this time comes from the source of the supply chain, or just extrapolation from previous reports.

Apple has consistently added new health features on Apple Watch. One of the previous innovations was the feature of measuring blood oxygen levels (blood oxygen monitoring). However, the technology is currently turned off in the US market due to patent issues.

Meanwhile, Apple isn't the only company pursuing non-invasive blood sugar monitoring technology. In January 2025, the PreEVnt company briefly introduced a breathing-on clip-on device as an alternative blood sugar measuring device without a needle.

If this prediction is accurate, then Apple Watch 13 could be a major breakthrough in the wearable health tech sector, especially for diabetics or those who want to monitor sugar levels regularly without an invasive method.
