JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria said that since October 20, 2024 to May 15, 2025, as many as 1,705 locations in 6 provinces in Papua have been connected to digital connectivity.

The details of the 1,705 locations are, 351 locations have been connected to the 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) signal with an average service availability of 84.24% as of May 10, 2025.

While the other 1,354 points target public services including schools, health facilities, village offices, places of worship including military and police defense posts, markets, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

"Also, a number of important points for public services have enjoyed internet access with an average service quality of 89.5% as of April 2025," said Nezar in his official broadcast.

In addition to BTS, Nezar also emphasized that the Ministry of Communication and Digital has provided telecommunications infrastructure such as the Republic of Indonesia Satellite (SATRIA)-1 and BTS-4G as proof of the seriousness of building access and developing digital innovation in the remote, outermost, and frontier (3T) regions.

"The presence of SATRIA-1 and BTS 4G accelerate the distribution of connectivity, especially in geographical areas that are difficult to reach, like us in Papua," he said.
