GoTo Foundation Take Advantage Of IoT And AI Technology, Encourages Productivity Of Coffee Farmers

JAKARTA - The GoTo Impact Foundation (GIF), together with changemakers, officially launched a sustainable coffee agribusiness program titled Gandrung Tirta in Ketindan Village, Malang Regency.

Being part of the Catalyst Changemekers Ecosystem (CCE) 3.0 initiative, this initiative combines the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, to empower local coffee farmers as well as encourage the transformation of the green economy.

As the fourth largest coffee producer in the world, Indonesia is facing serious challenges in productivity. The Gandrung Tirta initiative was present to address this issue with a data-based approach and community empowerment.

GoTo Impact Foundation chairman Monica Oudang said that the use of IoT and AI technology will be able to help farmers improve quality, consistency, and productivity of coffee farming.

Where with this technology, farmers can monitor plant health with standard data-based information remotely, optimizing the use of appropriate fertilizers and pesticides, thereby reducing the risk of crop failure.

With this approach, Gandrung Tirta targets an increase in coffee productivity by 18% and farmers' income to increase by 15% in the first year.
