JAKARTA - The Indonesian government cooperates with Oracle, in building the largest GPU cluster in the region, to emphasize its ambition to become the center of artificial intelligence (AI) in Southeast Asia.

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stated that Oracle will launch a public cloud area in Indonesia in the third quarter of 2025.

This facility is projected to become a data center with cutting-edge technology capable of supporting large-scale AI workloads, as well as supporting national data security and sovereignty.

"The GPU cluster that Oracle builds will be an important foundation for the national AI ecosystem, strengthen digital capacity, and open up great opportunities for innovation," Meutya said in an official broadcast quoted Tuesday, May 6.

In addition to infrastructure, this partnership with Oracle also includes human resource development through AI training for students, labor, and state apparatus. Where Indonesia targets AI briefing for more than 100,000 citizens in the next three years.

Senior Vice President of Oracle for Japan and Asia Pacific (JAPAC), Chris Chelliah emphasized that Indonesia is a strategic market with great potential to become a regional AI leader.

"The Oracle does not only bring technology and investment, but also builds infrastructure that is ready to answer local needs, ranging from data security to the sustainability of the digital ecosystem," he said.

As a follow-up, Komdigi and Oracle will form a joint working team to formulate an inclusive and global competitive national AI development roadmap.
