JAKARTA Platform X filed a lawsuit in Minnesota on Wednesday, April 23. This lawsuit was filed because the US state law prohibits the use of deepfakes for election needs.
According to Elon Musk's company, prohibiting people from using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for deepfake needs is part of a violation of free speech. Therefore, X acts to protect user rights.
In his lawsuit, the platform previously called Twitter said that this law would have an impact on censorship on its platform. Many user posts or comments will be deleted because of these rules.
"This system will definitely result in the censorship of most valuable political speeches and comments," X said, quoted by Reuters. Apparently, this lawsuit was initiated by Musk who always puts free speech on his platform.

The latest Minnesota Law has strict rules regarding the use of deepfakes, either in the form of videos, images, or audio clips. Whatever AI makes and looks real, this media cannot be used to interfere with the course of elections.
However, X has different views on the use of deepfakes. According to him, the media produced by AI is legally used. This is not surprising because Musk once shared Kamala Harris' deepfake video on his X account.
By filing a lawsuit, a federal judge is expected to declare that the Minnesota Law has violated the First Amendment to the US Constitution. X also wants judges to ban the law from protecting social media from responsibility for content uploaded by its users.
