JAKARTA - Discord CEO Jason Citron announced his resignation from the company on Wednesday, April 23. However, Citron said it would remain a member of the Board of Directors and CEO Advisors.

Meanwhile, Citron has appointed Humam Sakhnini as the new CEO of Discord, and Humam will take over his duties at the company starting April 28.

"So I am very happy to welcome Humam Sakhnini as the next CEO of Discord," Citron wrote in its official announcement on the Discord website.

Humam has more than 15 years of experience in the gaming industry. Recently, he served as Deputy Chair at Activision Blizzard, managing a billion-dollar portfolio including Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Candy Crush.

Earlier, as President of King Digital Entertainment, Sakhnini replaced the founding CEO and led the company to record its best performance after being acquired by Activision Blizzard.

He then took over from the founders of King to please their live service gamers while developing King's business substantially in the public market.

Citron also claimed to have the same thoughts as Humam, where creating long-term value requires long-term thinking and focusing on the extraordinary user experience.

"I am happy with its collaborative approach to developing a creative environment for all of you to continue to provide services to our customers," he said further.

Discord announced that currently, its platform has served more than 200 million monthly active users worldwide who spend 2 billion hours playing games each month in thousands of game titles.
