JAKARTA Perplexity released its newest ad starring Lee Jung-Jae, a well-known South Korean actor who plays the Squid Game series on Netflix. In the ad, Perplexity looks insinuating Google's failure.
Last year, AI Overview became a concern for providing a controversial response. This Google Search-based Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature provides a strange answer when asked a question about how to reduce food.
A user asked about how to match cheese in pizza and AI Overview said they needed glue. This question was raised by Perplexity to show that its AI didn't give the wrong response.
In the Perplexity ad, Lee Jung-Jae looks trapped in a room. To get out of the room, the actor had to answer several questions asked by the system. Initially, Lee Jung-Jae was seen opening Google which was matched into Poogle.

However, Lee Jung-Jae seemed to have difficulty opening the search engine because the air in the room was very cold and his hands began to freeze. Therefore, the actor opened Perplexity and asked in a voice.
When the system asked about how to attach cheese to pizza, Perplexity responded openly to Google. The AI said, "Use fresh mozzarella with low water levels. Don't use glue."
Although AI Overview had made a mistake regarding its response, keep in mind that AI Overview and Perplexity are two different things. AI Overview is a feature to summarize the contents of the Google Search website, while Perplexity is an AI model like Gemini.
