JAKARTA PT Digital Forensic Indonesia (DFI) revealed the top three modes of online fraud that often attack people in Indonesia. This mode was revealed during the trial period of the IC4 platform.

IC4, abbreviation from the Indonesia Cyber Crime Combat Center, is an application designed to prevent and tackle online crimes. During the trial period in 2023 to 2024, IC4 recorded three modes of online fraud.

The first online fraud mode is fraud under the guise of a government agency. Fraudsters usually send Google Play website links to download apps. In fact, the links shared contain malicious applications to steal user data.

On behalf of the government, people usually trust more and don't have the slightest suspicion. The second mode of fraud is phishing. This mode also uses links, but the malicious component is in the link.

With just one click, users will give access to various applications or even accounts on the user's cellphone. Usually, criminals take advantage of the hoax 'sharing the social assistance funds' so that the victim is interested in clicking the shared link.

The last fraud mode that is often used is job vacancies. This mode is actually ranked at the top with an average of three reports each week. Throughout 2024, there were 156 reports regarding this type of fraud.

Although job vacancy scams occupy the first position, phishing scams and fake Google Play website links are increasingly occurring since the beginning of this year. If you become one of the victims, you can report this through the IC4 application.

Users only need to download their application on the Play Store and file a complaint or open the official ic4.id site via a browser that is often used. To report the crime, you can follow the directions in the application.
