JAKARTA The Direct Messenger (DM) feature on Instagram now supports interlingual conversations. Instead of copying messages and translating the language in the application, users can now translate in DM.

With this feature, Instagram users don't need to worry about finding friends from foreign countries. Instagram says that they have launched a message translation feature so that users can overcome the problem of language constraints.

This feature is also useful for famous artists or idols around the world. Fans will send messages every day and they may be interested in checking their messages even if they don't reply. When they find a foreign language, they can be translated immediately.

To use this feature, users only need to open a chat room whose message is to be translated. After that, tap on the message and select the Translate option. Users will later see the original message at the top and the message translated at the bottom.

The direct translation feature in DM can be accessed by Instagram users around the world, including in Indonesia. When opening and holding back the message, users will see an Translated option with a New label to show that the feature has just been released.

Although useful, keep in mind that the translation feature does not always go well. Sometimes, the translation results can be wrong or inaccurate. To understand the language properly, you must learn it or use an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based translation.

In addition to launching the translation feature, Instagram also launched a music sharing feature that is liked and embeds important messages. The embedded feature works in private chat rooms or groups and users will see messages embedded at the top of the chat room.

Finally, Instagram also brings QR code support for group chat rooms. Instead of inviting participants one by one, group admins can share QR codes with prospective members so that access to enter groups can be much easier.

The English, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and French versions are automatically generated by the AI. So there may still be inaccuracies in translating, please always see Indonesian as our main language. (system supported by DigitalSiber.id)
