JAKARTA OpenAI, a Microsoft-backed ChatGPT development company, has completed the development of its newest AI reasoning model, o3 mini. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that the model will be launched in the coming weeks.

Altman said that the launch of the mini o3 will coincide with the availability of application programming interfaces (API) and ChatGPT, after considering various inputs from users. This was announced through social media platform X.

Since December 2024, OpenAI has tested the AI o3 and o3 mini reasoning models which are expected to compete with models from companies like Alphabet's Google. The model is designed to deal with complex problems, surpassing the capabilities of current AI models.

According to the plan, the o3 mini will be launched at the end of January 2025, while the complete version of the o3 follows afterwards. The new model is expected to be more resilient than previous large AI models, attracting more users and investing in OpenAI.
