OpenAI Immediately Launches Mini O3 Management AI Model

JAKARTA OpenAI, a Microsoft-backed ChatGPT development company, has completed the development of its newest AI reasoning model, o3 mini. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that the model will be launched in the coming weeks.

Altman said that the launch of the mini o3 will coincide with the availability of application programming interfaces (API) and ChatGPT, after considering various inputs from users. This was announced through social media platform X.

Since December 2024, OpenAI has tested the AI o3 and o3 mini reasoning models which are expected to compete with models from companies like Alphabet's Google. The model is designed to deal with complex problems, surpassing the capabilities of current AI models.

According to the plan, the o3 mini will be launched at the end of January 2025, while the complete version of the o3 follows afterwards. The new model is expected to be more resilient than previous large AI models, attracting more users and investing in OpenAI.

OpenAI Technology Development

In September 2024, OpenAI introduced an o1 model, which was able to process demand longer to solve complicated problems in science, programming, and mathematics. This model received praise for its ability to reasoning complex tasks.

The latest model of o3 and o3 mini is projected to be stronger, providing better solutions for new challenges in various sectors.

In addition to launching the mini o3 model, OpenAI also introduced a beta feature called Tasks for ChatGPT. This feature marks the company's move into the virtual assistant room, competing with services like Amazon's Apple and Alexa's Siri.

This step further shows OpenAI's ambition to expand the reach of its products, not only as an AI model for conversations, but also as a multifunctional tool that is able to support users' daily activities.

Since the launch of ChatGPT at the end of 2022, OpenAI has become a center of attention in the world of technology. Its popularity sparked a large wave of investment in other AI companies. In October 2024, OpenAI managed to close funding of US$6.6 billion (Rp108.1 trillion), reflecting investor confidence in the innovations this company continues to develop.
