NASA Will Commemorate The Apollo 1 Tragedy, Challenger Plane, And Columbia Plane

JAKARTA NASA will hold its annual Commemoration Day on Thursday, January 23. The event was held in memory of the Apollo 1 tragedy and the re-alik plane Challenger and Columbia.

The ceremony will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia. NASA Association administrator Jim Free, as leader of the Commemoration Day ceremony, explained that the ceremony will begin with the laying of wreaths at the Tomb of Unknown Soldiers.

After that, NASA will continue the ceremony for the crew who died in the Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia tragedy. This ceremony is important for officials and workers at NASA so representatives from several NASA research centers will attend.

"On NASA's Commemoration Day, we take a moment to reflect on the courage, dedication, and inaccuracies of extraordinary individuals who push for the boundaries of exploration and discovery," Jim said, quoted on NASA's official website.

Jim added that this tragedy left an important legacy for NASA, which is a way to push the boundaries of space exploration. In addition, NASA is also committed to being more responsible for 'realizing the dreams and safety of the crew'.

Apollo 1 is a tragedy that occurred on January 27, 1967. Initially, three crew members were selected to explore the Moon so that they continued to train using supporting technology. These three astronauts entered the Command Module Capsule without fuel.

Unfortunately, the training process did not go well because the three crew members caught fire in the capsule. All three died on the spot. Meanwhile, the Challenger shuttle was a tragedy that killed the crew on January 28, 1986.

The plane carried seven crew and all killed as the plane exploded after takeoff. The tragedy of the Columbia shuttle also has the same history. The plane killed seven astronauts on February 1, 2003.
