Huawei Focuses On Developing Software To Create Autonomous Vehicles

JAKARTA – In 2021, Huawei will focus on investing in autonomous vehicle software. This is Huawei's strategy to deal with uncertain years.

The statement was affirmed by Eric Xu as Deputy Chairman &Rotaring Chairman, Huawei, at the "Huawei Global Analyst Summit 2021" on Monday, April 12.

"2021 will be the year in which we also see a lot of potential for this company. And we're confident this year will continue to be a challenging year. But, this is also the year when we started to form a clear development strategy," eric said.

He also added that there are 5 main points that are part of Huawei's strategy by 2021 which is to optimize the portfolio to increase business resilience, maximize 5G technology, provide seamless, user-centered, and intelligent experiences across all technology scenarios, innovate to reduce energy consumption and low carbon, and supply challenges.

Huawei's focus on autonomous vehicle software falls into the first category of the five points.

"Invest more in components for smart vehicles, especially autonomous vehicle software. This is the point that I need attention and involve more components, especially autonomous vehicle software," eric said.

"Huawei has committed to be able to achieve (technology) self-driving by investing heavily in self-driving software," he said at an event held online.
