JAKARTA - After the first pilot project for electric motorcycles and cars was completed, this time Gojek expanded its plan to use electric vehicles through commercial trials.

In this case, Gojek collaborated with Pertamina to implement a battery swap scheme on electric motorcycles made by Indonesian children, Gesit and Gogoro.

Later, Gojek will use 500 units of electric motorcycles, then will further increase the scale of the trial with an initial target of utilizing up to 5,000 units of electric motorcycles and the distance of using electric vehicles as much as one million kilometers.

"The commercial trial of electric vehicles is a manifestation of achieving the carbon neutral target through the transition to electric vehicles in the Gojek ecosystem by 2030," said Gojek Co-Founder and CEO, Kevin Aluwi at the Gojek 11th Anniversary press conference, Wednesday, October 27.

Kevin understands the importance of building an environmentally friendly ecosystem to prevent climate change, "We will continue to look for technological solutions, supporting infrastructure to ensure the transition to electric vehicles can take place quickly while providing a more environmentally friendly driving experience," added Kevin.

Furthermore, in this cooperation Pertamina will act to provide charging stations available at each gas station in the future.

Gojek's Chief Transport Officer, Raditya Wibowo also explained that to minimize impossible conditions, Gojek will also use a cabinet containing batteries for the electric motor.

"There will be at every Pertamina (gas station) later. To reduce conditions that are not possible, we try to use a cabinet filled with batteries. Later cooperation with Pertamina will also be faster than filling up with gasoline. There are special services in the pilot area, especially in South Jakarta first," explained Raditya.

The man who is familiarly called Dito emphasized that the electric motorbikes used by driver partners were not given free of charge, but Gojek implemented a daily rental scheme. Unfortunately, Dito did not explain further how much the driver-partners had to pay to use this vehicle.

"This daily rental will replace the cost of gasoline which is replaced with electricity," said Dito.

Meanwhile, in this trial phase, Gojek said Dito, will see how the driver-partners experience using the electric motorbike, starting from, "How are they on the road, their condition when carrying passengers, and our other services. We are waiting for the motorbike to arrive at least a while again," said Dito.

In this commercial trial, Gojek users can choose electric vehicle services when using GoRide, GoFood, GoSend Instant, GoShop, and GoMart services with pick up and drop off areas in South Jakarta.
