JAKARTA - Twitter is reportedly planning a new feature to give people more privacy options. Where users can archive old tweets so they are not visible to other users.

However, according to Bloomberg quoted by The Verge, Friday, September 3, this feature does not last forever, but after a certain period of time such as 30, 60, or 90 days and a full year.

The social media also includes options that allow users to limit who can see the tweets they like, let users remove themselves from conversations on Twitter, and let users delete followers without blocking them outright.

"At Twitter, privacy is more than what we do with your data, it's also about how we help you feel safe and in control of how you appear on Twitter", said a Twitter spokesperson.

Additionally, these new features are described as a series of social privacy changes aimed at making people more comfortable engaging on Twitter. Apparently, internal research on Twitter also found that many users don't even know whether their account is public or private. The company will start asking users to review this month.

"We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to privacy, so we're excited to roll out more features and tools to empower people on Twitter to customize their experience", a Twitter spokesperson said.

While the feature is still a draft, Twitter is reportedly planning to start letting users remove themselves from conversations by the end of the year and letting them delete followers starting this month.

"Our focus on social privacy was inspired by the feedback we received through global research studies we conducted to better understand people's perceptions and needs for privacy around the world. We will begin testing some of these features as soon as next week", added the Twitter spokesperson.
