Erica An AI Robot Who Will Play A Science Fiction Movie

JAKARTA - Robot technology has developed rapidly, some of which have even been equipped with artificial intelligence (AI). Now for the first time, an AI robot will appear in a science fiction film.

Not only appearing, this AI robot named Erica will also be the main character in the science fiction film entitled "b". Erica itself is a robot created by two Japanese scientists Hiroshi Ishiguro and Kohei Ogawa, as summarized from the Hollywood Reporter, Friday, June 26.

The film was produced by Bondit Media Capital in collaboration with Happy Moon Productions Belgium and Ten Ten Media Global New York. The shooting process for the film "b" itself has been carried out since the end of 2019.

The premise of the film "b" will tell you about a scientist who is in danger of his life after successfully perfecting human DNA in the body of a robot. The scientist then tries to save Erica - the female robot he created - from escaping.

In preparation for starring in the film, Hiroshi and Kohei have been trained in the basics of acting. The two of them also simulated movements so that Erika would appear more natural and explore her role.

"In acting, the actress will use her life experiences to act, but Erica does not," said Sam Khoze, the visual effects artist who handled the film "b".

So we had to simulate his movements and emotions through one-on-one sessions, such as controlling the speed of his movements, talking with emotion, and teaching character development and body language, "he explained.

This film project costs a production cost of up to 70 million US dollars, or around Rp. 99.8 billion. In fact, Erica will make her acting debut in several film projects that will be directed by Tony Kaye.

However, until now, there has been no information about the director and supporting cast for "b". Even so, several scenes of Erica's scenes have been done in Japan since last year. The filming process itself will resume in Europe, around June 2021.
