President Prabowo Holds Limited Meetings Including Discussing UMP 2025

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto held a limited meeting with a number of related ministers at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, one of which was related to the 2025 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP).

This was conveyed by the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli when he arrived at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, at around 14.15 WIB to fulfill the President's summons.

"There is something to report regarding employment, as well as updates on directions from him," said the Minister of Manpower, Yussierli, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.

When asked whether the meeting also discussed the finalization of the 2025 UMP discussion, Yassierli confirmed this.

"Maybe, one of them. We'll see his direction later," he said. Minister of Manpower Yussierli said the nominal amount of the 2025 UMP is still in the formulation phase with related parties, before being approved by President Prabowo.

The discussion process involved various parties, including trade unions and employers, to formulate fair policies for low-income workers without burdening the business world.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli added that the discussion of the UMP this time was in the midst of a special situation, due to the influence of the Constitutional Court's Decision (MK) on the Job Creation Act.

As is known, the Constitutional Court's Decision Number 168/PUU-XXI/2023 requires the government to adjust regulations regarding the calculation of the minimum wage.

"The government will comply with and implement the Constitutional Court Decision Number 168/PUU-XXl/2023, including provisions related to the minimum wage," the decision said.

The Constitutional Court's decision also asked the governors to postpone the determination of the 2025 UMP from November 21, 2024, to further directions from the central government.

Discussions on the UMP in Indonesia have now entered the final stage for 2025. Meanwhile, the determination of the City/Regency Minimum Wage (UMK) will follow with a deadline of November 30, 2024.
