The electronic skin can not only change color but can also display a number of patterns on its surface. Sukjoon Hong, one of the researchers who wrote the study on the electronic skin said that the skin does not have to change color completely because it is only designed to be camouflaged.

The researchers made the electronic skin using a liquid crystal ink glaze that can produce various colors by changing its molecular structure. Because the particles in the liquid crystal ink can gather and become a larger helical arrangement so that it can reflect various colors of light according to the size of the particles in the electronic shell.

The formation of a pattern on the surface of the skin is the result of activating a number of heating patterns simultaneously. No half-hearted electronic skin that can change color quickly in just half a second. This means that the chameleon robot has the ability to camouflage in a short time.
