JAKARTA – Blockchain-based game development company, Horizon Blockchain Games has managed to raise Rp65 billion in funding for the development of the Skyweaver card game. Horizon is a blockchain-based game development company.
Reporting from Tech Crunch, recently the company has managed to get funding worth IDR 65 billion. Currently, the total injection of funds collected by Horizon Blockchain Games is worth 13 million US dollars or around Rp. 187 billion.
Horizon revealed that the injection of funds came from a number of companies such as CMT Digital, BITKRAFT Ventures, The Xchange Company, Zyshan Kaba and Khaled Verje.
For information, the Skyweaver game is a competitive digital card and trading game based on blockchain technology. So players will get cards from the results of their matches with other players and can trade these cards.
Currently Horizon is reportedly working on two paths in the game. One is building an ethereum-based platform called Arcadeum for in-game items. After the player gets the item, the item is completely owned by the player and Horizon cannot take it. Therefore the item can be traded by its owner.
On the other hand, Horizon is developing its own game called Skyweaver. Therefore, ethereum-based platforms and Skyweaver will go hand in hand. Some time later the company changed Arcadeum to Sequence which is an integrated wallet to reduce complexity in the blockchain.
Horizon wants users to be able to store or buy their digital items on the blockchain. Horizon founder Michael Sanders revealed that the rebranding is aimed at expanding overall game development so that users can manage digital items up to NFT.
Currently the game by Horizon, Skywaver is still in beta stage. In the future, the game will be launched widely at the end of 2021. So far the beta version of Skyweaver has been played by as many as 66,000 players.
