Tesla Cybertruck Launch Delayed, Elon Musk Says Production Can Cost Millions Of Dollars Each Car

JAKARTA – Electric car manufacturer Tesla plans to delay mass production of the Cybertruck. Even though the electric semi-truck made by Tesla, many people have been waiting for it after the company promoted it on the streets of New York some time ago.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the challenges of producing the Cybertruck on a large scale, one of which is that failure to produce it will result in millions of dollars in losses.

It seems Musk considers that assembling the car on a large scale is certainly different from building several Cybertruck prototypes. It was previously revealed that the Cybertruck will be equipped with bullet-proof protective glass, a self-sensing air conditioning system, tracking technology that can control the car's rearview mirror, and other advanced features.

Tesla targets a range of around 980 km for the Cybertruck. But it is constrained battery. The electric car manufacturer is working on making 4680 battery cells. This is a lightweight and cost-effective battery option.

However, Tesla had difficulty implementing these innovations and they needed more innovations. Musk explained that he was not only fixing small parts but "half a dozen major fixes and dozens of minor fixes." Musk is currently not sure when the repairs will be completed.

In addition, Musk revealed that the current shortage of global chip supplies is hampering Tesla's production. He also added that his electric car company is currently paying attention to "a sizeable increase in the availability of cells (batteries) next year" to solve the problems the company is experiencing.

On the other hand, Musk insists that he will not produce just a handful of Cybertrucks because of the higher production costs.

"We can make any number of vehicles, but the effect on costs if you build multiple vehicles is crazy, like they're literally going to cost $1 million or more for each," Musk said.
