JAKARTA - Soon Instagram will provide a sticker feature in Stories so users can share links with others. This feature is still in the testing phase, so it cannot be used by all users.

In addition, this sticker also functions where other users can provide feedback, such as commenting via direct messages. Previously, this could not be done on the swipe-up feature of Instagram Stories.

Instagram's Head of Product Vishal Shah gave a reason why this feature hasn't rolled out yet. The reason is, the social media service still wants to develop how this feature can benefit users.

According to Shah, another reason for embedding a link via Sticker is because this method fits into the habits that are currently popular among users. However, currently, the link sticker will only be applied specifically to Insta Stories only. Shah said there are no plans to add a link feature to the feed or other parts of the app.

"That's the kind of future system we want to achieve. If we can make this innovation successful then that's what we hope to launch", Shah said as quoted by The Verge, Thursday, July 1.

However, it is not explained whether this feature will be rolled out to all users or only those who have received the swipe-up feature with a minimum number of 10 thousand followers or not.

Furthermore, Instagram is also keeping an eye on the types of links being shared. Because they want to avoid embedded links that will spread misinformation or spam.
