JAKARTA - Google again takes steps to combat fake news or hoaxes. By protecting users from using search results that cannot be verified.

Quoted from Gizmochina, Monday, June 28, it is now known that hoaxes have become a fairly worrying nest. Google brings a fact-checking feature to ensure the authenticity of search info, the company will also warn users when the search results are full of news or topics that are not true.

Previously, Google had also launched a similar feature, but it was not effective because it was flooded with the latest news, making it difficult to fact-check and determine which one was genuine. Currently, when Google cannot guarantee the authenticity of the search data, the system will then warn the user.

A warning will indicate the fact-checking algorithm takes time to check the validity of the source. This is also followed by a statement that the topic the user is looking for is a new topic.

Google said this alert feature has been tested for one week. So far only a small percentage of search results can show alerts, especially trending topics or stories.

Like Facebook and Twitter, Google puts search mechanisms in the form of deep learning algorithms to suppress fake news on the platform.

In fact, many social media are now also trying to prevent their platforms from being used as a place to spread hoaxes, as has been the case since the pandemic. As the search engine giant in the world, Google hopes to strengthen the company's prospects by launching this feature.
