JAKARTA - The Saveri Law Firm announced a settlement agreement (settlement) of a class action lawsuit related to the purchase of digital games through Sony Interactive Entertainment on the PlayStation Store platform.
The case, titled Caccuri et al. v. Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC, accuses Sony of eliminating competition in its digital gaming market. As a result, the price of games is higher for consumers.
Thus, consumers who have purchased digital games on the PlayStation Store in the period from 2019 to 2023 have the opportunity to receive compensation from the settlement fund.
However, Sony denied all of the allegations and stated that it had not committed any violations or harmed consumers. To date, the court has also not ruled on the existence of any wrongdoing by the defendant.
As part of the initial agreement, the court has granted provisional approval of a settlement worth 7.85 million US dollars (around Rp120 billion). This fund will be allocated to eligible group members.
A further hearing to determine final approval of the settlement is scheduled for October 15, 2026, before Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín in San Francisco.
This hearing will also discuss the scheme for distributing funds, attorney fees, and compensation for the plaintiff's representatives.
Consumers who feel they belong to this group have several options. They can remain part of the class action without doing anything, object to the settlement, or opt out of the lawsuit before the July 2, 2026 deadline.
