JAKARTA - The Electronic System Operator (PSE) has been given a three-month deadline to fulfill its obligations in accordance with Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of the Implementation of Electronic Systems in the Protection of Children (PP Tunas).
Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Alexander Sabar said that the obligation had been in effect since the PP Tunas was implemented on March 28, 2026.
"The implementation of PP Tunas begins on March 28, 2026 as the starting point for implementation by the Electronic System Operator (PSE)," said Alexander as quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 11.
During this period, PSE is required to submit the results of the self-assessment to Kemkomdigi regarding the identification of services used or accessed by children, including the protection and age verification mechanisms applied. The results of the self-assessment will be verified by Kemkomdigi to determine the risk profile of PSE products, features, and services, which will then serve as the basis for the application of child protection obligations in the digital space.
Kemkomdigi explained the level of compliance of a number of digital platforms operating in Indonesia with PP Tunas since it was implemented on March 28.
Meta has fulfilled its child protection obligations and has been declared compliant with the PP Tunas policy.
Then, Roblox and TikTok are currently in a partially cooperative status. Both platforms have submitted written commitments and are making gradual adjustments to meet the provisions of the Tunas PP.
Meanwhile, Google was stated to have not fulfilled the PP Tunas compliance so that the government imposed a written sanction in the form of a first written reprimand on April 9, 2026.
"Based on the written reprimand, Google is asked to immediately comply with the PP Tunas within seven days of being subject to the administrative sanction," said Alexander.
Kemkomdigi measures the success of the Tunas PP with two interrelated indicators. First, the compliance rate of digital platforms in implementing a comprehensive child protection system.
Second, the real impact in the digital space is the reduction of cases of exploitation, bullying, and exposure to negative content on children.
"Both must go hand in hand to realize a safer digital space for children," said Alexander.
